The location is fabulous, but there are other hotels with similar views and their place on this famous coast line - the difference is the staff. Then you come back to an amazing, beautiful, restful place with incredible beds every night. Beautifully decorated - in keeping with the history of the monastery but also with many wonderful modern touches. From Amalfi, you can catch the ferry to Naples, Sorrento, Positano, Capri and other towns. Which kept all the ancient motives of the original monastery. It set the bar VERY high — so when we stayed in two more hotels in Italy that were characterized as ‘five star’, nothing else came close. The things I loved: the spa amenities were excellent, the infinity pool, the grounds with beautiful views, the beautiful bathrooms with heated floors, the welcome fruit and Prosecco in our room, the turn down service with the slippers and a gift, being greeted at check-in with lemonade and the delicious restaurant which was our favorite of vacation. We can not wait until we can return 1 more tip would be, dont drive yourself, take advantage of shuttles or private cars, The reasons I gave this hotel a 4 star instead of 5 are: - the location is a bit off and it takes 30+ mins to get to Amalfi - the rooms are very small for the price you pay - the restaurant food was rather unremarkable When we mentioned to our hostess that our room is tiny, her response was a matter of fact- the room pics and size are described online during booking. This is one of the nicest places we have ever stayed. The spa is a must , the hydrotherapy makes you just melt away and relaxed. If you want to stay in a luxury hotel away from the crowds-this is your spot! We even took the city bus right outside our hotel. Other than that, the hotel is lovely.
